Candidates with following qualification shall be eligible for admission to the Ph.D. Programme of the Institute :

• M.Tech. / M.E. / M.Arch. or equivalent degree in relevant discipline with at least 6.5 CGPA or 60 percent marks in aggregate from a recognised technical institute or university.
• M.Sc. / M.Com. / M.B.A. / PGDBM / PGDM / MA or equivalent degree in relevant discipline with at least 6.0 CGPA or 55 pecent marks or equivalent in aggregate from a recognised institute or University.
• B.Tech / B.E. / B.Arch. or equivalent degree in relevant discipline with at least 8.05 CGPA (or 80 percent) marks in aggregate from a recognized technical institute or university.
• A valid GATE score / NET qualification is mandatory for all candidates.
• Candidates having their own fellowship from CSIR / UGC / DST / DRDO / Other relevant national funding agencies obtained through NET or equivalent national examinations may be exempted from the written test examination and may be directly called for interview.
• The minimum CGPA / marks shall be relaxed by 0.5 CGPA or 5 percent In case of candidates belonging to the SC / ST categories in all cases.

Admission for Ph.D. programme through Institution admission Test and / or Interview detailed below shall be based on merit decided on overall academic performance, written examination followed by Interview.

Candidates' name with application number, fulfilling minimum eligibility criterion for admission to the respective department and programme will be displayed on the Institute website as per admission schedule.

The written examination / Interview will be conducted by the Examination section and Admission Committee of respective department in assosiation with experts from respective departments.

Admission shall be based on merit prepared after written test and interview, subject to verification of documents, original certificates.

• After submission of online application, applicant should download the printed application and send alongwith the required documents & DD to the address given below on or before 18th July, 2016 by speed / registered post, Application by hand will not be entertained.
• Application fee of Rs. 1500/- for General / OBC / Sponsered category and Rs. 750/- for SC/ST/PH in the form of DD drawn in the favour of National Institute of Technology Patna Payable at Patna, must accompany with the application submitted as stated above, else application shall be rejected.
• Applicants from SC / ST / PH category must enclose Certificate issued by competent authority to claim relaxation in application Fee.

The general and SC/ST candidates can make the payment of Rs 1,500/- and Rs 750/- through demand draft, drawn in favour of 'National Institute of Technology Patna', payable at Patna.
